  Starting from the fact that the annual waste generation in South East Asia will increase considerably, becoming an alarming trend, the SWAP project worked on creating pathways that will have an impact in terms of technology and business, but also in terms of awareness, education and training on the topic of sustainable solid waste management. The creation of a dedicated workforce and knowledge building through the promotion of specialisation can only be achieved if specialised courses are offered at different levels of education and if targeted capacity building programmes, governance models, education and training are conducted. All the material is the result of the European project SWAP, Sustainable solid Waste management and Policies, in which Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) - Germany, the project leader, worked together with Chiang Mai University (CMU) - Thailand EUROTraining - Greece Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry - Vietnam I.F.O.A. Istituto per la Formazione degli Operatori Economici - Italy Maejo University (MJU) - Thailand Polytechnic University of Bari (POLIBA) - Italy Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) - Cambodia Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF) - Vietnam This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. Food waste is an important component of the "BioCycle," the cycle from food to food waste and back to food. Through proper sorting at home, efficient collection, and conversion into biogas and compost, we can step towards sustainable and renewable energy self-sufficiency and improved soil quality for agriculture, thus completing the cycle. This course unpacks these processes. Not only will you learn about the BioCycle, but you will also be able to experience what you can personally do to close it efficiently.
