Learning objectives
The online course is composed of seven modules covering topics like introduction to sustainable tourism, challenges of sustainable tourism, destination management, sustainable tourism standards, funding opportunities, stakeholder-management and monitoring. Participants understand fundamental concepts and technical terms in sustainable tourism. They examine the unique tourism landscape in Small Island Developing States and critically analyze and evaluate tourism practices.
Learning method
The learning process is supported by theory-based training booklets, practical examples from tourism experts from Small Island Developing States and real-world exercises. Knowledge is not only acquired but also applied at various points. As a result of the learning process, participants develop a project proposal for a sustainable tourism project with problem statements, an own sustainable tourism approach, resources and funds as well as monitoring indicators.
