RUVIVAL Mission Statement
The RUVIVAL project is based on the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU) mission statement: In the case of the RUVIVAL project, this was specified for the project context.
1. Learner orientation and collaboration:
The approach to develop learning scenarios and materials is learner centered or the material is created together with the learner. Collaboration takes place in different ways and should grow through project partnerships to a close cooperation with an international broad public. All produced materials follow the claim to avoid to reproduce excluding stereotypes. This is an expression of our deeply rooted values based on the 30 articles of human rights and is part of our commitment to a solidarity-based exchange of information.
2. Scientific Approach:
Learning in the context of RUVIVAL is oriented towards academic learning and promotes problem solving, joint reflection and creative design. The learning materials have an academic level and originate from the scientific context or are the result and product of individual or joint learning processes.
3. Opening up to new target groups and civil society relevance:
RUVIVAL not only addresses the students of the TUHH and partner universities, but also wishes to invite new target groups beyond these. For the processing and solution of ecological questions relevant to civil society, a special value and a higher quality are expected from a multitude of perspectives. We see the project as part of achieving the UN sustainability goals.
4. Openness/OER:
RUVIVAL is oriented towards the idea of Open Education and produces educational materials in the form of Open Educational Resources (OER) as defined by UNESCO (2015). This means that the materials developed can be shared and disseminated. In addition, the HOOU, as a framework project, pursues technological openness through the use of open source software, legal openness through the use of open licenses, social openness and the opening of action and learning spaces in the didactically open design of the various learning scenarios. Openness is also expressed in access to materials and interactions in the sense of the greatest possible accessibility.
