This article deals with the use of plants for the production of therapeutic proteins, so-called molecular farming. Experiments on the production of influenza and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in plants are reported.

Plant-made pharmaceuticals (PMPs) are designed to enable plants to produce therapeutic proteins that could be used to treat heart disease, cancer, HIV, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and cystic fibrosis.
